Dear Parent/Guardian

COVID 19 and HOW THIS AFFECTS YOUR APPLICATION FOR FUNDING.

Firstly, the Trustees hope you and your family have been managing and are safe and well during this very unusual and challenging time.

The Perth and Kinross Music Foundation is a registered charity and aims to financially support young musicians who attend school within Perth and Kinross.  To qualify for application, the young musician must either be enrolled in a state school and receive music tuition and/or attend Central Groups or be enrolled in any school and attend Central Groups.

This year (Session 20/21) – No application for funding will be considered until music lessons have been approved and have resumed.  Applications are not being accepted at this time and for that reason we have removed the application link from our website.  The link will be reinstated in due course but not before we have consulted with the IMS to ensure we open applications at the best possible time.  The Trustees recognise and are regretful that this is just another thing that is undecided and has no firm timeline, we are respectfully asking for your patience and understanding and please be assured that we will be here when the time is right.

When Instrumental instruction resumes, if you are on low income and in receipt of Working Tax Credits, Child Tax Credits OR Universal Tax Credits (UTC) relating to these, or have very exceptional financial circumstances we may be able to provide some financial assistance to you.  Evidence of any benefits is required – letters or screen shots which state name, year and benefit being paid to you are also acceptable.  The most relevant benefits are working credits and child benefit.

You may not have any of the paperwork mentioned above or may have been financially impacted by furlough or some other COVID related restriction.  The Trustees do understand and will treat each application individually and kindly.  When applications are able to be submitted, do please apply and with your application advise what has happened and supply as much evidence as possible – a letter of furlough for example.

Thank you for your understanding, more information will follow as soon as possible.  Meantime keep well and safe.

Just a wee reminder that a new application for funding must be made to the Foundation for each academic year.

Yours sincerely

Sheila Herron
